Where’s the party? 🎉
Friends of The Trees, hello!
And yikes. Looks like we’re living in a world that’s more hostile toward eco-homo-erotic musicals than I thought.
Maybe our fellow Americans won’t embrace art that interrogates American folk heroes! Our queer revisionist historical narratives may not feel welcome in this new world!!
You could have fooled me. My tree-hugging, queer-loving, theater-making friends and family showed up with generosity and enthusiasm for our first fundraising push. In October alone, we raised more than half our $25k goal.
We need another $10k to assemble our production-ready package.
Maybe you already gave with the power-punch of a mighty Magnolia, or with all the grandeur of a Sequoyah. Maybe you are one of our love- army of Aspen shimmying on the forest dance floor. Are you a stoic Oak? A festive Silver Fir? Come find your name on the donor wall of our new website.
Or maybe you haven’t given yet. Maybe you were waiting for this election cycle to complete. Maybe it’s time to think about an end-of year tax write-off.
Now is the time to double down on your support for defiant queer art that spits in the face of climate denial and nationalism.
Your support for The Trees is more important than ever. It is a musical about not giving up on humanity. It’s about leading with kind hearts, even in the face of hostility and mean-spirited politics. Thanks for believing in this project.
Tree hugs,
Kristy
